Ravidas or Raidas (Biography)


Ravidas was great spiritual saint . He had attracted citizens of all section of society by his kindness , politeness and belief with devotion in Almighty God .

Ravidas's Life :

Ravidas was born in 1377 CE in  Sear Govardhan which is situated in Varanasi District .
His birth anniversary is celebrated on Fullmoon Day of Magh Mad according to Hindu calendar .

His father's name was Baba Santokh Das and His mother's name was Kalsa Devi . Apart from these two blood relationship there were a lot of well-wishers . His spouse name was Lona Devi . 

Life Line :

Ravidas ji was a man who had believed in simple living and high thinking principle . He was also known as Raidas or Saint Gurudev Ravidas . He was great devotee . Once a person had said to let's go to bath in River Ganga . Since that was the day of great religious importance according to Hindu religion . 
At that time he was doing very significant task so he expressed that he is unable to go with him . I will bath at home with highest degree of holy heart and God will bless me . After this discussion people had started saying that :
If heart is full of honesty with belief in God then almighty will bless . 
Ravidas ji was earning money by his business of shoes to live and to maintain his household . His occupation was very simple but his thoughts were singular and unique.

Name and Fame :

Ravidas had obtained discipleship of Great Saint Ramand Ji after taking suggestion with Kabir Das Ji . He had got deep knowledge on spiritual subjects with Ramsnand Ji . Besides it he had obtained awareness by meeting with religious scholars . He had attended various discourse and sermon ceremonies to enhance his knowledge .
He was mentor of famous devotee of Lord Krishna whose name is Meera Bai . 
He was the founder of Ravidasi Panth or Raidasi Panth . 

Literary Works :

He had written a lot of books and  hymns . There are so many statements given by him . Some of his hymns have been found in Guru Granth Sahib . The foremost religious scripture of Sikh religion.
 

Opinion and Views :

He was very strict opponent of casteism and untouchability and other social evils.
He had strongly opposed this type of legacy and customs . Which divide to citizens in small group . He was the supporter of humanism .
He was died in 1528 CE in Varanasi district of Utter Pradesh state .
